Dance Workshop: My Body, My Space
With Samuel Udoh (Sam Ibom)
July 5, 2025 | Lianna Foundation, Lagos
overview
As a continuation of The Voyage, Lianna Foundation & Gallery hosted “My Body, My Space”, a dance movement and artist talk led by performance artist and cultural worker Samuel Udoh (Sam Ibom). The workshop invited participants into the world of Ekpofusion—an experimental performance language that reimagines the sacred Ekpo masquerade of the Ibibio and Annang people through embodied memory, ritual, and contemporary movement.
This session explored the intersections of dance, spirituality, storytelling, and cultural resilience—offering a space for reflection, release, and creative presence. It also reflected Lianna’s continued commitment to collaborating with the artists we work with, building long-term relationships that go beyond the exhibition moment.
Lianna sees itself as an organic, growing space—part of a living ecosystem of artists, thinkers, and cultural practitioners. Events like this speak to our belief that art doesn’t begin and end in the gallery; it lives in the body, in memory, and in the spaces we create together.
