Echoes & Embers: An Evening of Play Reading, Poetry & Performance

Presented by Zoku Space in collaboration with Lianna Foundation & Gallery
June 29, 2025 | Lianna Foundation, Lagos

overview

Lianna Foundation & Gallery was pleased to host Echoes & Embers, a collaborative evening with Zoku Space—an initiative committed to shaping new cultural narratives through writing, performance, and creative community. Curated and hosted by Ebimoboere Dan-Asisah and Tolu Ajiboye, the evening brought together audiences for a warm, intimate, and powerful experience grounded in language, memory, and shared presence.

The programme featured a moving reading of The Woman With a Thousand Stars in Her Hair by Nigerian author Ayodele Olofintuade, alongside performances and poetry exploring intimacy, personal history, and emotional release. Gentle pauses allowed for audience reflection and connection, creating a room that felt soft, electric, and deeply human.

This event reflects Lianna’s ongoing commitment to collaboration—especially with independent spaces and initiatives who, like us, are building new ways of working. As a young art space, we see our ecosystem as relational, open, and alive. Echoes & Embers reminded us that sometimes the most meaningful art happens in the in-between: in words, in voice, in being together.
